Boaters looking at the central and northern sections of the Western US are pleased to see significant improvements in snowpack and water supply in many drainages. River levels and the length of the season in individual areas will be effected by spring weather. Here's some specifics on Rivers throughout the Northwest:
Idaho has the highest number of whitewater
river miles of any state. This season with
snowpacks exceeding 100% there could be
dangerously high runoff during the peak. Boaters
should use extreme caution in these conditions.
Later in the season will still offer many boating
opportunities. There are always runable levels on
the Main Salmon, Lower Salmon, and Snake Rivers
and extended seasons on the Payette.
Washington State is in for a big start to the
river season with most SNOTEL sites exceeding 100%
Utah and Colorado have excellent snowpack in
the northern and central portions of the states
with pack in the south somewhat less.
